5-Year-Old Female Leopard Killed in Accident on Nagpur-Jabalpur Highway
Nagpur, India: A five-year-old female leopard was fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle on Sunday along the Nagpur-Jabalpur National Highway near Mansar in the Ramtek forest range.
Range Forest Officer (RFO) Anil Bhagat of the Ramtek Forest Range reported that residents discovered the leopard’s body early in the morning, approximately one kilometre from Mansar. The incident was promptly reported to the forest department.
A team of forest officials arrived at the location, conducted the necessary Panchnama, and performed a post-mortem examination following National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) protocols.
The leopard’s final rites were carried out at the Ambala nursery in Ramtek. Officials involved in the response included Gondi Meshram, B.N. Gomase, and other forest department personnel.
Authorities remind motorists to exercise caution while driving through forested areas to prevent such tragic incidents.
