6-Year-Old Girl Electrocuted in Bhandara School Washroom

Nagpur , Bhandara - A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Bhandara as a 6-year-old girl lost her life due to electrocution in her school washroom, just days after the summer break. Yashasvi Sopan Raut, a Class 1 student at Zilla Parishad Primary School in Puyar, Lakhandur tehsil, was fatally injured after apparently coming into contact with a live wire.

The tragedy occurred when Yashasvi, excited to return to school, ventured into the washroom where she encountered the hazardous wire. Despite efforts by school staff and students to rush her to the hospital, she tragically succumbed to her injuries upon arrival.

Following the incident, outrage swept through the community with relatives and villagers protesting outside Lakhandur Hospital, demanding justice. In response, district officials swiftly took action, suspending the school's Headmaster and pledging Rs 7.5 lakh in compensation for the grieving family.

Investigations are ongoing to determine how such a dangerous situation arose in the school's washroom, which reportedly had been closed for use. Authorities suspect the involvement of an aluminum wire, potentially linked to a sanitary napkin vending machine, highlighting critical safety lapses that led to this devastating loss.

The incident has sparked widespread concern among local residents and calls for stricter safety measures in schools to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
