8th Class Girl Gets Pregnant; Boyfriend Charged with Rape in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: A troubling case has emerged involving a 13-year-old girl who found out she was three months pregnant. The girl had been experiencing stomach pain, which led her mother to take her to a doctor. After medical examinations, they discovered the pregnancy.
When questioned, the girl revealed that a 21-year-old man named Jayesh Naresh Gabhane was responsible. After her mother filed a complaint with the MIDC police, a rape case was registered against Gabhane.
Police said that the girl was attending a tuition class in Wanadongri, where she met Gabhane, who lived nearby. He gained her trust by offering help with her studies, and their friendship eventually became romantic.
According to the girl's statements, about six months ago, Gabhane took her to an under-construction building, where they engaged in sexual relations. This continued over time, leading to her pregnancy.
Initially, the girl's mother thought her stomach pain was not serious, but when it didn't go away, she took her to the doctor, where the shocking news was confirmed. After learning the details, the mother reported Gabhane to the police.
The police quickly apprehended Gabhane within an hour of the complaint being filed. During questioning, he reportedly expressed a desire to marry the girl, but authorities informed him that he was being charged with the sexual assault of a minor and causing her pregnancy.
On February 20, Gabhane appeared in court and was ordered to remain in police custody for two days as the investigation continues.
