A constable of the SRPF took his own life by shooting himself
A tragic incident unfolded at the Unconventional Operations Training Centre (UOTC) in Surabardi as a constable of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) took his own life by shooting himself with his self-loading rifle (SLR) on Saturday evening. The deceased, Mangesh Maski (Badge No. 1248), was assigned to SRPF Group-IV and was on deputation to the UOTC. Maski, aged 35, was on quarter guard duty at the time of the incident. Around 5 pm, he sat on a cot and proceeded to place the nozzle of his SLR beneath his chin before pulling the trigger. The self-inflicted gunshot resulted in his immediate death.Upon being notified, the UOTC authorities alerted the Wadi Police, who promptly arrived at the scene. Maski's lifeless body was discovered on the cot, and after conducting the necessary spot 'panchnama,' the police arranged for the body to be sent for autopsy. As of now, the motive behind Maski's tragic decision remains unclear. Maski's wife, who also serves in the police department, is posted at the Wadi Police Station. He leaves behind two children. The Wadi Police have initiated further investigations after registering a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Maski's untimely demise.
