Actor Ashok Saraf Honored with Maharashtra Bhushan Award 2023
In a significant recognition of his contribution to Marathi and Hindi cinema, veteran actor Ashok Saraf has been chosen as the recipient of the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan Award.
The announcement, made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday, reflects the state's acknowledgement of Saraf's illustrious career in both stage and film. Although his name was under consideration for the Padma Shri Award last year, it was not selected. Shinde personally conveyed the news to Saraf via telephone, extending heartfelt congratulations on his well-deserved selection for the coveted award in 2023.
Ashok Saraf, a stalwart in the Marathi entertainment industry, has portrayed lead roles and showcased versatility by taking on comedic, character, and even villainous roles in numerous Marathi and Hindi films.
