Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan shares his 'uncomfortable' flying experience with Air India

India: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Agriculture Minister, expressed his displeasure on social media after a bad experience with Air India. While flying from Bhopal to Delhi on flight AI436, he was given a broken and uncomfortable seat.
In a post on X, Chouhan shared that he was assigned seat 8C, which he found to be broken and uncomfortable. He said that when he asked the airline staff about it, they admitted that management had been informed earlier and had advised not to sell tickets for that seat. He was also shocked to find that there were several other defective seats on the flight.
Despite other passengers offering him alternative seats, Chouhan decided to stay in his assigned seat to avoid causing trouble for others. The minister was on a busy schedule, which included inaugurating the Kisan Mela in Pusa, attending a meeting of the Natural Farming Mission in Kurukshetra, and having discussions with representatives of farmer organizations in Chandigarh.
Chouhan expressed his disappointment and criticized the quality of Air India's service under its new management, stating, "I had hoped that Air India's service would get better after Tata took over, but it seems I was wrong."
Chouhan called it "unethical" for the airline to charge passengers full fare for broken seats and asked whether Air India would take steps to fix the issue and avoid future problems.
Air India responded to the minister's post, saying, "Dear Sir, we apologize for the inconvenience. Please be assured that we are carefully looking into this issue to prevent it from happening again. We would appreciate the chance to speak with you, so please DM us a convenient time to connect."
