ANC Makes Major Arrest, Seizes MD Powder Worth Rs 12.10 Lakh in Amravati

Nagpur, India: In a breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Amravati Crime Branch arrested two individuals early Monday morning and seized illegal drugs, a weapon, and other items worth Rs 12.10 lakh. The suspects were caught in the Nandanvan area while in possession of 59 grams of mephedrone (MD) powder, a country-made pistol, three mobile phones, and a Hyundai I20 car (MH-48/AK-5053).

The arrested men have been identified as Raju Giri (37), alias Dupendra Chaman Girigosawi, from Bandhu Nagar, Zingabai Takli, and Sahil Mahesh Solanki (28), from Block D, NIT Quarters, Vyankatesh Nagar. Acting on a tip-off, the ANC team set up a trap near NIT Quarters in Vyankatesh Nagar and intercepted the Hyundai I20 around 3:45 AM.

During a search of the vehicle, police recovered the MD powder, a pistol, and other items. Both men were taken into custody, and a case was registered against them under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the Indian Arms Act, and the Maharashtra Police Act at Nandanvan Police Station.

Police are also searching for a third accomplice, Bhavik Nivrutti Mahajan (26), a resident of Om Nagar, Sakkardara, who remains at large. The arrest of these individuals is part of ongoing efforts by the Crime Branch to combat illegal drug trafficking and possession of firearms in the region.
