Amravati Police Conduct Extensive Operation to Tackle Illegal Liquor Ahead of Election

Vidarbha, Amravati, India: In preparation for the Assembly election on November 20, Amravati Rural Police launched a major crackdown on illegal activities across the district on Sunday. This four-hour operation included a ‘Nakabandi’ (road blockade) on all major routes within and beyond the district.

The police targeted illegal traders dealing in country-made and branded liquor, seizing a total of Rs 7.14 lakh in illicit goods, which included 1,660 liters of country-made liquor, 6,995 litres of mahua, and materials valued at Rs 1.33 lakh used in illegal liquor production. Authorities registered 43 cases involving illegal country-made liquor and an additional 18 cases involving both country-made and branded liquors. Confiscated valuables totalled Rs 2.04 lakh, including liquor worth Rs 59,635.

Throughout the operation, police also stopped and checked vehicles and screened known criminals as part of their pre-election security measures. Over 100 officers took part in the effort, led by Superintendent of Police Vishal Anand, Additional SP Pankaj Kumawat, along with SDPOs and nearly 500 personnel.

This intensive operation highlights the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the lead-up to the election.
