Anti-Human Trafficking Unit Rescues Minor in Wathoda, Arrests Suspect
Nagpur, India: In a significant operation, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit has successfully rescued a 17-year-old girl who went missing from her home in the Wathoda area. The girl's father, a 39-year-old resident, reported her disappearance on October 19, 2024, around 11:00 AM, stating that she left home without informing anyone and did not return.
Upon learning of her absence, the father initiated a search but was unable to locate her. Concerned for her safety, he approached local authorities and alleged that an unknown individual had lured his daughter away. Acting on this complaint, the Wathoda Police Station registered a case under Section 370(2) of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to human trafficking.
In a parallel investigation, officers from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit gathered information and conducted technical investigations. Their efforts paid off when they located the missing girl in Tumsar, near Bhindara, in the company of a suspicious young man. Both individuals were taken into custody for questioning, and counselling was provided to the girl.
Following their inquiries, both the girl and the suspect were handed over to the Wathoda Police for further action. The successful operation highlights the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals in the community.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singh of Nagpur City, with support from Deputy Police Commissioners Nisar Tamboli, Sanjay Patil, and Rahul Maknikar. The dedicated team from the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit included Lalita Todase, Safwan Rajedande, Gajendra Singh Thakur, Sunil Wakde, Shyam Anguthlewar, Dipak Bindane, Rishikesh Dumre, Sharif Sheikh, Pallavi Vanjari, Ashwini Khodpewar, and Vaishali Kinhikar.
