Arnav and Swara win the Under-7 title, and Kushagra and Aparnita win the Under-19 titles, in Chess

Arnav Kunchalwar in the Open Group and Swara Borkhade in the Girls Group won the Nagpur District Under-7 Open and Girls Chess Championship, which was held at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, and was sponsored by the G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and the Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation. Kushagra Paliwal in the Open Group and Aparnita Jagtap in the Girls Group annexed the title of the Nagpur District Under-19 Open.

Kushagra Paliwal scored all five points in the Under-19 open division, going unblemished after five rounds. Based on their tie-breaking score, Rudraksh Borkar and Aarit Thakur, who both scored 4 points, were ranked second and third on the merit list. With 3.5 points, Anshul Mahant moved up to fourth place. 

Aparnita Jagtap and Shanaya tied in the final round of the Girls Under-19 Group for a score of 4, but Aparnita was proclaimed the champion and Shanaya received second place due to the tie-breaking score. Aashi Dalal also had four points, but due to a tie-breaking score, she came in third. Krishnai Taori earned 3.5 points to move up to fourth place. 

Arnav Kunchalwar and Durvank Dhoke both scored 4.5 points in the Under-7 open group, but Arnav won the competition thanks to a better tie-breaking score. Swara Borkhade won the Girls Under -7 Group after scoring all five points in a row to remain unbeaten. Lavanya Mahadik and Anaaya Sabu both earned 3.5 points, however on the basis of the tie-breaking score, they came in second and third, respectively. 

Nagpur District will be represented at the Maharashtra Under-19 Chess Championship later this year by Kushgra Paliwal, Rudraksh Borkar, Aarit Thakur, Anshul Mahant, Aparnita Jagtap, Shanaya Shelkar, Aashi Dalal, and Krishnai Taori. Arnav Kunchalwar, Durvank Dhoke in the Open Group, Swara Borkhade and Anaaya Sabu in the Girls Group, and Arnav Kunchalwar will represent Nagpur District in the Under-7 category.

Chief Guest CA Sanjay Agrawal, Chairman of the ICAI, Nagpur Chapter, handed out prizes. CA At the event were Shri. S.S. Soman, a member of the MCA Observer Committee, and Saket Bagadia, a former president of the ICAI Nagpur. The Top 10 winners in each group received trophies and medals. The event was successfully run by FA Shiva Iyer, Chief Arbiter, with help from SNA Prayas Ambade and Prathamesh Machave.
