At Mumbai Rally, PM Modi Reminds Residents of Pre-2014 Terror Strikes
Mumbai, India- Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the Congress party's election manifesto on Friday, calling it a "Maoist" document. He noted that if the policies in the manifesto were implemented, they would halt the country's economic progress and might lead to financial ruin. Modi also mentions that if the Congress had been dissolved after India's independence, as Mahatma Gandhi had wished, India would have been much more developed socially and economically by now.
Speaking at an election rally in Mumbai, just three days before the final phase of Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, Modi stresses the Congress for its manifesto. He said that Congress is fighting desperately for survival and is willing to do anything to stay relevant.
Modi also notes that Congress is planning to reintroduce the inheritance tax, which was abolished in the 1980s, suggesting they wanted to impose a 50 per cent tax on inherited assets. He claimed this would lead to an invasive examination of people's properties and redistribute wealth to secure votes.
He underlined the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya and the removal of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, as achievements made possible by voters' support. He urged Mumbai residents to remember past terror attacks and bomb blasts when they vote, noting that the city has been much safer since 2014.
