Audit Uncovers ₹4.83 Crore Scam by Hexaware Employees in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: Several employees of Hexaware Technologies Limited, based in the MIHAN area, have been booked for allegedly executing a fake refund scam that resulted in a loss of over ₹4.83 crore to the company. The fraud came to light during a routine audit conducted by the company’s internal quality team.
The complaint was filed by Arvind Vinod Malgund, General Manager at Hexaware and a resident of Jayanti Nagari on Besa-Pipla Road. According to the police, the accused employees created fake customer accounts and processed refunds without the actual return of goods, bypassing company protocols which require verification of returned items before issuing refunds.
The fraudulent activities were carried out between December 2023 and February 2025. During this period, the employees reportedly generated fake entries to show that products had been returned by customers, when in fact no such returns had taken place. Using this method, they managed to siphon off a total of ₹4,83,30,168 from the company.
Those booked in the case include Jayant Sameer Das (NIT Colony, Jaripatka), Aditya Vasant Dongre (Model Mill Chowk, Ganeshpeth), Piyush Yogesh Sodari (Bhagyashree Layout, Trimurti Nagar), Mukesh Kumar (Baraipura, Maskasath), Pawan Prahlad Chachane (Snehdeep Colony), Ajikya Pradeep Meshram (Gopal Nagar, Third Bus Stop), and Surendra Hariram Agase (Mahatma Phule Nagar, Somalwada).
A case has been registered under Sections 316(4), 318(4), 344, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.
