Nagpur, India: Residents of Besa-Pipla in Nagpur are grappling with sleepless nights and scroaching heat due to repeated power outages during odd hours. For the past week, the area has been experiencing intermittent power cuts, with little to no assistance from the local office of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
The issue appears to be particularly severe in large townships along Pipla Road, Padmavati Nagar, Omkar road especially in Atharva Nagari, where residents report more intense and frequent disruptions.
A local resident, shared that power was cut off early Friday morning as well. "The electricity supply snapped around 2 am, affecting large parts of Besa. during the day time, power cut is experienced at the peak afternoon making residents uncomfortable to bear the heat within their home. With summer heat at its peak, the nearly four-hour blackout was extremely difficult to endure," he said.
According to reports, the most recent outage occurred when a conductor broke on Besa-Pipla Road, plunging the surrounding areas into darkness. These late-night power failures are severely impacting residents' sleep cycles. Without fans, coolers, or air conditioners, sleeping through the night has become increasingly difficult—especially for children and the elderly.
"The situation is frustrating. Such frequent failures suggest there’s a serious lapse in the standard operating procedures of MSEDCL’s field units," Another Resident added.
Residents are now demanding swift action from MSEDCL to rectify the recurring problem and provide uninterrupted power supply, particularly during the night hours.
