Big Fire at Firecracker Warehouse in Nagpur, Goods Worth ₹2.5 Crore Burnt

Nagpur, India: A major fire broke out at a firecracker warehouse near Mehndi Bagh Railway Overbridge (RoB) on Wednesday afternoon. The fire started around 3 pm and destroyed goods worth about ₹2.5 crore.

The warehouse was full of firecrackers, which began to burst loudly as the fire spread. Thick smoke and high flames could be seen from far away. Firecrackers kept exploding for more than an hour, making it difficult for firefighters to control the fire.

Ten fire engines from different parts of the city were sent to the spot. Firefighters worked hard to stop the fire, but strong winds made the job harder. Some fire trucks stayed there until late evening to keep watch. Luckily, no one was hurt.

The warehouse was rented by Gulam Brothers of M/s. Modern Crackers. Two nearby shops also caught fire. A fancy glass shop owned by Adnan Moosa lost items worth ₹1 lakh. Another shop, Saikrupa Hardware owned by Vijay Kukde, lost goods worth ₹5 lakh. Reports say goods worth ₹55 lakh were saved from the fire.

As a safety step, one lane of the Mehndi Bagh RoB was closed to traffic. Police kept people away from the area to avoid accidents. Residents living nearby were asked to leave their homes, and shopkeepers shut their shops.

Local people said two trucks full of firecrackers had arrived at the warehouse just a day before the fire. The fully stocked warehouse made the fire worse.

Officials are now investigating how the fire started.
