Bihar Man Arrested for Duping Woman in Butibori, Gold Chain Stolen

In a concerning incident of deception, Butibori Police apprehended a man from Bihar for allegedly swindling a woman of her gold chain under the guise of offering jewelry polishing services. The victim, Sarla Saroji Mohanty, residing in Plot No 17, Newara Society in Butibori, fell prey to the scam orchestrated by the accused.

According to police reports, on March 1, two unidentified individuals approached Sarla's residence, posing as jewelry polishers. They offered to clean her jewelry and, exploiting her trust, persuaded her to hand over her gold chain for polishing. However, as soon as Sarla relinquished her jewelry to the fraudsters, they absconded with the valuable possessions, leaving her in distress.

Promptly responding to the incident, Butibori Police initiated a thorough investigation and registered a case under sections 420, 406, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Leveraging CCTV footage and employing technical expertise along with confidential informants, law enforcement diligently pursued the perpetrators. Their efforts culminated in the arrest of Anilakumar, also known as Sunilakumar Satyanarayan Shah, a 40-year-old individual hailing from Bhagalpur district in Bihar. The accused had been residing in rented accommodation in the Shiv Nagar area of Pardi, Nagpur.

During interrogation, Anilakumar confessed to the crime, admitting to his involvement in the interstate theft of gold jewelry valued at Rs. 60,000. The police successfully recovered the stolen goods during the arrest.

The arrest operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Harsh Poddar and SDPO Pooja Gaikwad. API Prashant Labhane led the investigative team, assisted by dedicated staff members including Ashish Tekam, Pravin Devhare, Yunus Khan, Krunal Pardhi, Dashrath Ghugre, Ashish Kachhwah, Madhav Gutte, among others.

The swift action by Butibori Police in apprehending the accused reflects their commitment to ensuring justice for victims of such fraudulent activities and upholding law and order in the region.
