Boating Safari at Pench Tiger Reserve to Begin Soon Amid Tourist Rush

Nagpur, India: The Pench Tiger Reserve, a popular wildlife spot known for its tigers and beautiful scenery, is set to introduce a new attraction—boating safari. This eco-friendly activity aims to give tourists a fresh way to explore the reserve and enjoy nature.

Every year, thousands of visitors come to Pench, which covers 789 square kilometres, to see animals like tigers, leopards, deer, and nilgai. With the New Year approaching, the reserve is preparing for even more visitors.

What to Expect From the Boating Safari

The Forest Department is bringing in two electric boats for the safari. Each boat will take tourists on a 23-km ride from Kolitmara to Navegaon Khairi, passing through scenic spots like Kuwara Bhivsen. The trip will last about 2.5 hours.

  • Cost: ₹1,500 per person
  • Capacity: 24 tourists per boat
  • Daily Trips: 2 trips per boat (4 trips total)

This eco-friendly project, costing ₹2.5 crore, is also expected to create jobs for locals.

The boating safari was planned for 2024 but got delayed due to heavy rains and floods. The electric boats, which were being transported from South India, couldn’t arrive on time. Officials now confirm the boats will reach soon, and the safari will start shortly after.

A New Experience for Visitors

Once launched, tourists can enjoy peaceful rides on the water while soaking in the sights and sounds of Pench's lush forests and wildlife.

The boating safari is expected to make Pench even more popular with tourists in the coming months.
