Bomb Threat at Bombay High Court’s Nagpur Bench Declared False

Nagpur, India:  Work at the Bombay High Court’s Nagpur bench was briefly interrupted after police received information about a bomb on the premises. A man from Jaripatka, identified as Omprakash Sadhwani, informed Sadar Police about the alleged bomb.

The police immediately contacted the Registrar of the High Court, who helped them conduct a search. The alert came around 5 PM, after court proceedings had ended, and only administrative staff remained.

A team from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) arrived at the High Court building in Civil Lines. They searched all the rooms thoroughly, while sniffer dogs checked the premises. However, nothing suspicious was found.

Before informing Sadar Police, Sadhwani had also called the 112 emergency helpline with the same information. After the BDDS team confirmed the premises were safe, police declared the bomb threat a hoax.

A background check revealed that Sadhwani is mentally unstable. His condition was later confirmed by the doctor treating him. Police have registered a case and taken Sadhwani into custody.

Authorities have urged people to avoid making false reports, as they can create panic and waste police resources.
