Brave Pit Bull Saves Family from Cobra, Dies After 40-Minute Fight

Nagpur, India: A brave pit bull named Bheema saved his owner’s family and some labourers from a dangerous cobra but died after a 40-minute fight. The incident happened at the farmhouse of Shamanth Gowda, a civil engineer who runs a fair price shop in Kattaya village, 15 km from Hassan.

Around 3:15 pm on Wednesday, a 12-foot-long cobra tried to enter Gowda’s poultry farm. Some labourers and their children were playing nearby. The snake was hiding under coconut leaves. Ruby, a female Doberman, rushed to attack the snake, but Bheema noticed the danger and jumped in to protect her.

“Bheema had fought with snakes before. He killed almost 15 snakes in the plantation. He was so strong that even leopards did not enter the farm,” Gowda said.

During the fight, the snake bit Bheema on the nose, but he didn’t stop. He fought for 40 minutes and tore the snake into 11 pieces. Sadly, Bheema died soon after due to the snake’s poison.

A Hero Remembered

Gowda, who raised Bheema since he was a cub, was heartbroken. “I brought him home when he was a puppy. He was strong and loyal. We buried him in the plantation as a mark of respect,” he said.

Bheema’s bravery saved many lives, and his courage will always be remembered by the family and villagers.
