Bus Overturns on Amravati-Nagpur Highway, 1 Dead and 28 Injured
Nagpur, India: A tragic accident occurred this morning on the Amravati-Nagpur Highway involving a Shivshahi bus. The bus overturned while trying to avoid a cow that suddenly appeared on the road, resulting in the death of one passenger and injuries to 28 others.
The incident took place as the bus was traveling from Nagpur to Akola. According to reports, a cow unexpectedly ran onto Highway 6, leading the bus driver to swerve in an attempt to avoid it. The maneuver caused the bus to lose control, veer off the road, and overturn.
Local residents quickly came to the aid of the injured passengers, transporting them to the nearest hospital for treatment. The bus driver stated that the cow appeared out of nowhere, and despite his efforts to steer clear, the bus overturned.
The accident led to significant traffic disruptions on the highway, with long vehicle queues forming as authorities worked to clear the site. A crane was brought in to right the overturned bus, which sustained considerable damage, particularly to the front, highlighting the severity of the crash.
