Capt. Manpreet Singh Randhawa, from Nagpur, selected for Handball Championship to be held in Iran
Capt. Manpreet Singh Randhawa of Nagpur has been chosen to compete in the 25th Asian Men's Club League Handball Championship, which will take place from July 1 to July 11 in Isfahan, Iran.
A current soldier in the Indian Army, Capt. Randhawa was commissioned into the artillery unit in March 2020. He competed for India at the eighth Asian men's handball championship in 2022. He is the first and only military commander to participate and lead the Indian handball team.
The men's seven-day international competition will be run by the Handball Federation of Iran. The Handball Association of India will be in charge of the Indian team's participation in the competition.
Capt. Randhawa has played in five school national championships and six times for RTMNU. He attributes his selection to the Indian Army, the commanding officer, his college instructors, his father's cum-coach Dr. Inderjeet Sing Randhawa, Dr. Lovneet Kaur Randhawa, and other family members, as well as international handball player, president Roopkumar Naidu of the Nagpur District Handball Association, and other office-holders of the Handball Association of India.
