Carlos Alcaraz was hailed by Sachin Tendulkar with a special message

On Sunday, Carlos Alcaraz made history by becoming the first Spaniard to defend the Wimbledon men's singles championship since Rafael Nadal in 2010.

In the All England Club final, the 21-year-old Alcaraz accomplished this feat by defeating the typically unflappable Novak Djokovic for a second straight time.

Alcaraz dominated the whole match, faltering only when he got to his first championship point, which gave Djokovic the opportunity to force a tiebreaker in the third set.

Tendulkar and The Championships have a lengthy history together. During Alexander Zverev's victory over Cameron Norrie in the third round at Centre Court, the former captain of India received an invitation to the Royal Box.

When Tendulkar took a break to watch a match, the packed house at Centre Court gave him a standing ovation. After receiving a thunderous welcome from the audience, he was spotted waving his hands in acknowledgment while wearing a beige suit.

However, he wasn't the only sports figure in the Royal Box that day; former captain Joe Root, as well as England captains Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, were also there.
