Chain Collision Involving 7 Vehicles on Shaheed Gowari Flyover
Nagpur, India: Nagpur witnessed a major chain collision involving seven vehicles on the Shaheed Gowari flyover on Tuesday morning. The accident, triggered by a sudden brake applied by an unidentified car driver, resulted in severe damage to multiple vehicles. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
According to police, the incident occurred around 10:30 am when Waman Bapurao Neware (45), a resident of Matkajhari, Umred, was driving his SUV (MH-31/FC-7747) toward Zero Mile. Near Variety Chowk, a car driver abruptly braked, catching Waman off guard. Unable to stop in time, Waman's SUV crashed into the car ahead. The impact caused a domino effect, involving a total of seven vehicles—a car, four SUVs, a truck, and an auto-rickshaw.
The car driver at fault fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of damaged vehicles. The sudden halt on the busy flyover caused a significant traffic pile-up, disrupting movement for about 30 minutes. Sitabuldi police, along with traffic officials, promptly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and clear the congestion.
While three drivers later filed complaints at the Sitabuldi police station, others left with their damaged vehicles. The police have registered a case against the unknown car driver and are investigating the matter.
