Chief Minister Fadnavis to Inaugurate Somalwada Underpass Today
Nagpur, India: The Somalwada Railway Underpass will officially open today at 6:30 pm. The event will be led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and State Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule also attending.
The underpass, which connects Manish Nagar with Wardha Road, will make travel easier for residents of Manish Nagar, Besa, Ghogali, and Beltarodi. It will reduce traffic problems caused by the railway crossing.
Despite the construction being finished, the underpass was not officially opened for some time. Frustrated locals had used it earlier, but authorities shut it down due to work on the nearby Somalwada-Besa Road. The roadwork has now been completed, allowing today’s inauguration.
The underpass is 190 metres long, 8 metres wide, and 4 metres high, costing ₹33.83 crore. A pedestrian walkway has also been added. Once opened, the underpass will be available for vehicles, helping ease traffic in the area.
