City Police Arrested 2 Drug Peddlers in Shanti Nagar, Seized 55 Grams of MD Drug
Nagpur, India: City Police have arrested two men in Shanti Nagar for drug trafficking on Thursday night. Officers from the Anti-Narcotic Cell seized 55 grams of mephedrone (MD) powder worth about ₹5.50 lakh, along with a motorcycle valued at ₹50,000 and two mobile phones worth ₹20,000.
The arrested individuals are 48-year-old Abdul Latif Abdul Rajjak from Mudaliar Layout and 32-year-old Shahrukh Habib Khan from Sai Baba Chowk. Two other suspects, Dashrath Singh and Kailash Bagdulal Verma, both aged 30 and from Dug village in Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, are still being searched for.
The police acted on a tip-off and stopped Abdul Latif and Shahrukh while they were riding a Honda at around 11:30 PM. During the search, officers found the MD powder hidden in a zip-lock pouch. The two men were arrested, and the drugs were confiscated.
After their arrest, the suspects were taken to the Shanti Nagar Police Station, where a case was registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The police are continuing to look for the two remaining suspects.
This operation was led by Police Inspector Mukund Thakre and his team, with oversight from Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Maknikar and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Abhijeet Patil.
