City Police Bust Sex Racket at Hotel Oyo Resort Stay Inn
In a decisive crackdown on illegal activities, the Social Security Branch (SSB) of the City Police conducted a raid at Hotel Oyo Resort Stay Inn in the Beltarodi area, uncovering a sex racket and rescuing a woman who had been coerced into the flesh trade by pimps. Six individuals, including the hotelier and manager, were arrested in connection with the operation, which aimed to dismantle the illicit operation and ensure justice for the victim.
The accused have been identified as hotelier Suraj Gajanan Nikam (36), manager Om Kailash Patel (30), Laxman Pande (24), Rocky Rajendra Agrawal (30), Ashish Kumar Nagdeo Yadav (27), and Nitin Kumar Rohidas Pande (24), all of whom played various roles in facilitating the sex racket.
Acting on a tip-off, SSB officers deployed a decoy customer to the hotel, who engaged with the accused and finalized a deal. Upon payment of Rs 2,000, the accused provided the customer with a woman in one of the rooms, confirming the operation of the sex racket. The decoy customer then signaled the SSB team, prompting them to launch the raid on the hotel premises.
During the raid, the SSB team swiftly took the accused persons into custody, seizing some cash, eight cellphones, and a Hyundai Venue SUV (MH-40/CQ-6476) collectively worth Rs 17.37 lakh from them. The successful operation led to the rescue of the victim and the dismantling of the sex racket.
A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act has been registered against the accused persons, who will now face legal proceedings for their involvement in the illicit activity. The raid was executed under the supervision of senior police officers, including WPI Lalita Todase, PSI Mahendra Thote, and the constabulary staff, highlighting the collaborative effort of law enforcement agencies to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals in society.
The City Police's swift action underscores their commitment to upholding law and order and ensuring the safety and security of all residents. The rescue of the victim serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and proactive measures in combating the scourge of human trafficking and exploitation.
