Clarification on EVM Usage and Candidate Numbers for Upcoming Nagpur Elections

Nagpur, India: Some candidates and political parties raised concerns about the need for three or four EVMs to address issues with the election process. However, it was ultimately clarified that only two ballot units one for the voter and one for the candidate were necessary.

This clarification suggests that the initial demands for additional EVMs were unnecessary, as the existing two-unit system was sufficient to conduct the elections efficiently.

For the upcoming election, only one ballot unit will be used in the Umred and South-West Nagpur constituencies, while two ballot units will be deployed in each of the other ten constituencies.

This likely reflects a strategy to manage the voting process more efficiently based on the specific needs or voter populations in each constituency.

The North Nagpur constituency will have the most intense race, with 26 candidates competing for votes, while the Umred Assembly constituency will have the least competition, with only 11 candidates running for office.

South Nagpur will have 22 candidates, Central and West Nagpur will each have 20 candidates, Kamptee will have 19, and Saoner and Hingna will each have 18 candidates.

Katol, Ramtek, and East Nagpur will each have 17 candidates, and South-West Nagpur will have 12. Consequently, Umred and South-West Nagpur will use only one control unit and one ballot unit, while the other constituencies will require one control unit and two ballot units.
