CM Fadnavis Speeds Up Plans for NMRDA Bhavan in Nagpur

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to speed up the construction of the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) Bhavan. He held a meeting at the ‘Sahyadri’ Guest House in Mumbai on Wednesday, where he asked Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule to find suitable land for the project.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, NMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Meena, and other officials attended the meeting. Fadnavis suggested that Sondapar in Nagpur could be a possible location for the new building.

The NMRDA Bhavan will include office spaces and housing for employees. Currently, NMRDA works from the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) office, but as its responsibilities have increased, a separate office is now needed. The plan is still in its early stages, but Bawankule is expected to finalise the land soon.

Fadnavis also instructed officials to find land for a new flower market in Nagpur. The meeting further discussed NMRDA’s budget of ₹20,273.88 crore and reviewed 37 proposals for approval.

The government aims to develop NMRDA’s own office to improve efficiency and better manage its growing work.
