Commissioner of Police Insists on Installing 900 New CCTV's
Nagpur, India- The Commissioner of Police, Ravinder Singal, took proactive measures on Tuesday as reports surfaced indicating that approximately 650-700 public CCTV cameras throughout the city are out of commission. Chairing a review meeting with relevant agencies, Singal emphasized the critical role of CCTV camera networks in crime prevention, detection, and traffic management.
Expressing his concern, CP Singal highlighted the city police's heavy reliance on functional CCTV systems and stressed the importance of their restoration. Singal, who has been advocating for the strengthening of the CCTV network, reiterated his call for the installation of an additional 900 cameras at strategic locations.
"The ongoing civic construction works on the roads have adversely affected many CCTV cameras in various locations, disrupting cabling and connectivity," explained the top cop. He urged the concerned agencies to expedite efforts to rectify these issues and ensure that malfunctioning cameras are back online as soon as possible.
Acknowledging the instrumental role played by CCTV surveillance in crime detection and reduction, Singal emphasized the potential of the camera network to enhance the effectiveness of policing strategies.
