Contractual Workers Arrested in Theft at Bhandara Ordnance Factory

Vidarbha, Bhandara, India: The Jawaharnagar Police have filed a complaint against two contractual workers at the Ordnance Factory in Bhandara for allegedly stealing a die used in the production of defense materials.

The Ordnance Factory is regarded as a highly sensitive and secure facility due to its production of defense-related products. To meet production demands, hundreds of laborers are employed on a contractual basis.

These laborers are required to undergo security checks upon entering and exiting the facility. On October 10, a worker named Mahendra Ramteke was found with 14 brass dies that are used in the manufacturing of defense products.

Initially, there were attempts to conceal the incident, but due to its sensitive nature, it was reported to the Jawaharnagar Police. Following preliminary verification, police arrested two suspects, Mahendra Ramteke and Chakole, on October 22. API Sudhir Borkute is leading the ongoing investigation.

It is important to note that since the engagement of contractual agencies at the Ordnance Factory, several complaints regarding alleged theft incidents have been reported in recent times.

Officials have called for a high-level investigation into the incident and have also requested an inspection of the warehouses belonging to private agents located within the factory premises.
