Crime Branch Busts Fake Soyabean Oil Racket, Seizes Goods Worth ₹8.5 lakh
Nagpur, India: The crime branch has busted a gang involved in manufacturing and selling fake soyabean oil in the Hudkeshwar police station area. During the raid, they arrested the accused, Nilesh Shahu, and seized goods worth approximately ₹8.5 lakh from his godown.
Anup Gholap, an investigation officer from IP Investigation and Detective Service Limited in Mumbai, received information that Nitesh Shahu was producing and distributing fake edible oil under the names of popular brands like Kings Soyabean Oil, Ambuja Gold Refined Soyabean Oil, and Fortune Refined Soyabean Oil at a factory on Peepla Fata Outer Ring Road. He reported the matter to the police.
The Crime Branch Unit 4 investigation revealed that the accused was producing fake edible oil using fake stickers, lids, packaging materials, and machines resembling genuine brands. Based on this information, the police conducted a raid on the factory.
During the raid, the police seized many products of various brands, including Kings Soyabean Oil, Ambuja Gold Refined Soyabean Oil, and Fortune Refined Soyabean Oil. Additionally, they confiscated packing machines, electric pumps, weighing forks, and a four wheeler.
The police have filed a case against the accused under the Copyright Act and Trademark Act. The accused has been handed over to Hudkeshwar Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities are now searching for other possible suspects involved in the case.
The police are keeping a strict watch on people selling fake oil under big brand names and putting public health at risk. They have asked citizens to report any suspicious oil or other products found in shops or markets immediately.
