Crime Branch Recovers Stolen Temple Artefacts, One Thief Caught

Nagpur, India:  The Crime Branch Unit-3 apprehended one of two thieves stealing brass artefacts, including traditional lamps, from two temples in the Kalamna and Juni Kamptee areas. The police recovered all the stolen items and a Hero Splendor motorcycle (MH-40/AF-7140), with a total value of over Rs 1 lakh, from the suspect's possession.

The arrested individual has been identified as Irfan Ansari Shamshad Ansari (23), a resident of Bhandewadi, Pardi. However, the second accused, Naina Meshram, a resident of Tajbag, is still at large.

The thefts occurred in the early hours of September 15, when the accused stole brass artefacts and other valuables from Sai Mandir in Surya Nagar (East) and later from another temple in New Kamptee.

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch Unit-3 team, led by PI Mukund Thakre and PSI Madhukar Kothake, arrested Irfan Ansari and recovered the stolen artefacts and the motorcycle. The suspect has been handed over to Kalamna Police for further investigation, while efforts to apprehend the second accused are ongoing.
