Pankaj Udhas, the maestro whose ghazals resonated deeply with audiences, has passed away at the age of 72. For decades, Udhas captivated listeners with his distinctive style and soul-stirring compositions.
His family confirmed his demise after a prolonged illness. Sharing the news on Instagram, Pankaj Udhas' daughter Nayaab released a statement on Monday, expressing, "With heavy hearts, we announce the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on February 26, 2024, after battling a prolonged illness."
Following the announcement, fans flooded the comments section with messages of condolences. Expressions like "May his soul rest in peace" and "Deepest condolences and prayers" filled the digital space, reflecting the widespread admiration for the late singer.
Pankaj Udhas passed away at Breach Candy Hospital around 11 am, according to a family source. His last rites are scheduled for Tuesday. He is survived by his wife Farida Udhas, daughters Nayaab and Reva Udhas, and brothers Nirmal and Manhar Udhas, both acclaimed singers themselves.
