Deepika Padukone Opens Up About Early Days with Ranveer Singh, Netizens are Shocked
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh revealed details about their marriage during the premiere episode of Koffee with Karan Season 8. They delved into the early stages of their relationship, a time when they were technically free to date other people but continuously gravitated towards each other. One significant moment they shared was during the making of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, where Ranveer was captivated by Deepika, and the two experienced their first spark.
When Karan inquired about when they officially started dating after their first encounter, Ranveer swiftly replied, “The next day,” with Deepika adding, “There was no gap.” At the time, Deepika was single while Ranveer had recently ended a relationship. She expressed her reluctance to commit to anyone, given her past experiences with challenging relationships. Even as they began dating, there was no solid commitment until their engagement, Deepika disclosed.
Despite being "technically allowed" to date others, they found themselves continually drawn back to each other. Deepika confessed, “I did meet other people, but I wasn't interested or excited by anyone else I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. So I would meet other people, but at the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him.”
When Karan asked if they had explicitly discussed being in a relationship at this point, Deepika revealed that they hadn't, but Ranveer clarified that it was implicitly understood that they were together. “We would go out on dates. It's not really said, but once you take a holiday together or you spend New Year’s together, then it gets established that you are together,” he explained.
Ranveer recounted that within the first six months, Deepika had "two or three other suitors," and many guys were pursuing her. This surprised Deepika, who asked who these suitors were. Ranveer responded, “You just said that you were seeing other people but I would go back to him, but now you don't remember?” Deepika insisted she didn't recall these individuals, while Ranveer emphasized that he remembered them very clearly. Ranveer concluded by stating that he knew he was "the one" for Deepika, and he was confident that she was "the one" for him within the first six months. Ranveer and Deepika have been married since 2018 and are soon approaching their fifth anniversary.
