Delhi Couple Arrested for Stealing 38 Laptops Worth ₹15.70 Lakh in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: The Bajaj Nagar police have arrested a couple from Delhi for deceiving a local businessman and fleeing with 38 laptops valued at ₹15.70 lakh.

The police identified the suspects as Pawan Kumar Bir Singh (36) from Mayur Vihar, Delhi, and Anita Sharma Vinod Kumar (48) from Sector 119, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. They pretended to be businesspeople in order to carry out the fraud.

The duo approached Sandeep Rane, a resident of Laxmi Nagar, to rent a commercial space near Bal Jagat in Bajaj Nagar. They claimed to operate a Delhi based company, TAWC, and stated their intention to set up a business for AutoCAD work. After securing the rental, the duo requested 70 used but fully functional laptops.

Rane introduced the duo to his acquaintance, Ajay Mate, who owns C.S. Engineering, a computer business in Manewada. On November 18, the accused obtained 10 laptops eight old and two new from Ajay, promising immediate payment, but they failed to fulfill this promise.

Subsequently, the duo asked for 28 brand new Dell laptops, which Ajay provided on October 21. They promised to make the payment by evening, but instead, they absconded with the laptops, leaving Ajay defrauded.

Ajay filed a complaint with the Bajaj Nagar police, who then registered a fraud case and apprehended the accused.
