Devendra Fadnavis Responds to Lalu Prasad Yadav's Open Invitation to Nitish Kumar
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has dismissed Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav’s offer to collaborate with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking on January 2, Fadnavis said, “The dreams of Lalu Yadav will always remain dreams (Mungeri Lal ke Haseen Sapne hi rahenge). They will never be fulfilled.”
Lalu Yadav, in an interview on January 1, said he was open to Nitish Kumar rejoining the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) for the upcoming Bihar elections. “Nitish Kumar can join us and work together. My doors are always open for him,” Yadav said.
When asked about Yadav’s comments, Nitish Kumar brushed them off, saying, “Kya bol rahen hain…Chodhiye na” (What are you talking about… let it go).
Lalu Yadav’s invitation is significant given the history of alliances between the RJD and JD(U). Kumar has partnered with the RJD twice before but returned to the BJP-led NDA in 2024.
Fadnavis’ statement shows the BJP’s confidence in its alliance with Nitish Kumar, as Bihar gears up for a critical election year.
