DRI Mumbai Seizes 52 kg of Liquid Mephedrone Worth Rs 78 Crore
Nagpur, India: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Mumbai has made a breakthrough by shutting down an illegal drug factory in the Pachpaoli area. The DRI team seized 52 kilograms of liquid Mephedrone, a dangerous synthetic drug, worth Rs 78 crore. Four people involved in the operation were arrested.
On Saturday, the DRI planned a raid at an under-construction building in Pachpaoly. Inside, they found a small lab with all the necessary chemicals and equipment to produce Mephedrone, also known as 'meow meow.' This drug is illegal and is classified as a psychotropic substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, of 1985.
The mastermind behind the operation had set up the lab with equipment to produce over 100 kilograms of Mephedrone. When the DRI raided the place, they found that the group had already made over 50 kilograms of the drug in liquid form and were preparing to turn it into a solid form.
In addition to the liquid Mephedrone, the DRI also seized a large amount of raw materials and special equipment used to make the drug. The four people arrested are Akash Harode, Sahil Sheikh, Sumit Ghonmode, and Divyanshu. These men were key players in the drug-making process.
The arrested suspects are now in DRI custody and are being questioned under the NDPS Act, 1985. This successful operation by the DRI is a big step in the fight against illegal drugs in India.
