Drive Carefully: Check New Traffic Fines in Maharashtra Starting March 1!

Nagpur, India: India holds the unfortunate title of being the road accident capital of the world. To address reckless driving and improve road safety, Maharashtra has enforced stricter traffic penalties, starting March 1. These updated fines focus on key violations like drunken driving, riding without a helmet, and reckless driving, aiming to ensure better following road laws.
If you thought a hangover was the worst result of drunken driving, think again. Under the new rules, being caught driving under the influence will lead to a Rs 10,000 fine and up to six months in jail. Repeat offenders will face even stricter penalties, including a Rs 15,000 fine and up to two years in prison.
Other major traffic violations have also seen a steep hike in penalties.
