Drones to Monitor Traffic and Security for India-England ODI in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: With the much-awaited India-England One Day International (ODI) set to take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association’s Jamtha Stadium on Thursday, 6th February, Nagpur Police have stepped up security and traffic management.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, especially on Wardha Road, four drones will monitor the situation in real-time. Around 2,000 police personnel, including 300 traffic officers, will be on duty to manage the large crowd.

Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal held a meeting on Monday to finalise security plans. In preparation, drones were used to survey the stadium, nearby roads, and parking areas to identify traffic problem spots. Officials are also considering an alternative route via Hingna Road to help students move easily.

For added security, 11 Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) will be stationed around the stadium. Quick Response Teams (QRT) and Riot Control Police (RCP) will also be on standby in case of emergencies. To prevent post-match traffic jams, a special “green corridor” from Jamtha to Rahate Colony Square will be used for the quick exit of vehicles.

The Indian team is staying at Radisson Blu, while the England team is at Le Meridien, both under heavy security. Special police teams, led by senior officers, will escort the players to and from the stadium.

For better monitoring, police have installed 254 CCTV cameras, deployed four mobile surveillance vans, and set up watchtowers around Jamtha. Since all tickets are sold out, police are also on high alert for black-market ticket sales. The Cyber Police team is keeping a close watch on online platforms to catch illegal ticket resellers.

Nagpur Police are making every effort to ensure a safe and smooth experience for cricket fans with tight security and traffic management for the big match.
