Easy Commute Ahead: NMC Brings Digital Card for Aapli Bus Passengers

Nagpur, India:  Travelling on Aapli Bus in Nagpur just got easier. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), which allows passengers to travel without carrying cash. The new card was launched on Tuesday by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari at the NMC headquarters.

This move supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of “One Nation, One Card”, which aims to make public transport more convenient and cashless across India. The NCMC has been launched with help from the technology company Chalo.

Dr. Chaudhari said that the NCMC will now be the main card for Aapli Bus. People who already have the old NMC bus cards can continue using them until they expire. After that, they will get the new NCMC card for free.

The NCMC is not yet active on Nagpur Metro, but work is going on to make it usable there too. Once ready, the same card can be used for both bus and metro travel.

Apart from travelling, the NCMC card can also be used for shopping in stores, eating at restaurants, and making online payments. The card is available at main bus depots like Wadi, Hingna, Patwardhan Ground, and Naka No. 13. Passengers can recharge the card online, through the Chalo Card app, at bus pass centres, or from bus conductors.

The launch event was also attended by Additional Commissioner Mrs. Vasumana Pant, Transport Manager Mr. Vinod Jadhav, and other senior officials.
