In the prime minister's most recent "Pariksha Pe Charcha" episode, which aired on Friday, leading nutrition experts gave schoolchildren advice on how to reduce stress during examinations, including getting enough sleep, eating meals prepared at home, and avoiding binge eating.
During a special session of "Pariksha Pe Charcha"—an annual event in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi engages with students taking board exams—nutrition and health experts Shonali Sabherwal, Rujuta Diwekar, and Revant Himatsingka discussed the value of good eating practices and the critical role that good sleep plays in academic success.
According to author and macrobiotic dietitian Sabherwal, "The finest food for de-stressing is homemade cuisine. The diet can contain brown rice and millet. To manage cravings, a balanced meal is recommended. Millets have about an eight-hour half-life.
Diwekar advised against binge eating as a stress-reduction strategy but acknowledged that it was acceptable to eat whatever helped one feel better during tests. "Especially junk food, processed foods, and sugar...," she stated. Foodpharmer and nutrition and health influencer Himatsingka discussed his "Label Padhega India" program, saying the goal was to educate people about the products they were eating.
