Fadnavis Announces New Agricultural Initiatives
Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, expressed his discontent with the previous Uddhav Thackeray-led Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) Government, accusing it of neglecting the needs of distressed farmers. He specifically targeted Eknath Shinde, the former Chief Minister, for his lack of action in supporting the agricultural sector. However, Fadnavis highlighted that the current administration is taking steps to address these issues by introducing welfare schemes for farmers.
Fadnavis announced the upcoming launch of the "Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana," a new initiative that will ensure a 12-hour daytime power supply to the agriculture sector. Recognizing the challenges posed by below-average rainfall, Fadnavis urged officials to prioritize arrangements for drinking water and assist farmers in planning their sowings, crop schedules, and fodder timing. He emphasized the potential positive impact of initiatives like the Atal Bhujal Yojana and Jalvukt Shiwar Yojana in enabling farmers to achieve good yields even in adverse conditions.
During a review meeting held at the Katol Sub-Division Office, Fadnavis was joined by several key figures, including Ramtek MP Krupal Tumane, MIC Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLA Ashish Jaiswal, Tekchand Savarkar, Anil Deshmukh, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, and Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Saumya Sharma. The gathering aimed to assess the situation in the Katol and Narkhed talukas.
Fadnavis shared further details during the meeting, revealing the government's target of constructing 10 lakh houses under the housing schemes of the State and Central governments. He urged the Katol and Narkhed taluka administrations to expedite the process of distributing ownership rights, aiming to complete it within two months. Various suggestions were also provided by MLA Anil Deshmukh, Ashish Jaiswal, and Chandrashekhar Bawankule during the productive session.
