CM Fadnavis, Bill Gates Explore AI for Healthcare, Agriculture, and Infrastructure

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates on Thursday to discuss the potential use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in governance. The meeting was held at the Government guest house ‘Sahyadri’ in Mumbai, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).  

Fadnavis and Gates explored how AI could be used effectively in healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure. Senior officials from the CMO and the Gates Foundation were also present during the meeting.  

Gates is currently visiting India and had earlier met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Union Ministers in Delhi earlier this week.  

Gates Foundation to help make Maharashtra malaria-free  

During the meeting, Bill Gates also pledged that the Gates Foundation will collaborate with the Maharashtra government to make the state malaria-free. The Gates Foundation, co-founded by Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates, focuses on improving global health, reducing poverty, and increasing access to education.  

Fadnavis said that they had fruitful discussions about Maharashtra’s various schemes aimed at empowering youth, farmers, women, and the poor. He mentioned initiatives such as Lakhpati Didi and Ladki Bahin Yojana, which have significantly contributed to the economic development of these groups.  

“Bill Gates assured that the Gates Foundation will support our efforts to make Maharashtra malaria-free,” Fadnavis posted on X (formerly Twitter).  

The collaboration aims to boost Maharashtra’s efforts in public health and governance, bringing advanced technology and expertise to the state.
