Farmers Suffering Amid Irregular Rains and Hailstorms
Irregular rains and hailstorms have dealt a severe blow to farmers in the state, causing extensive damage to crops. The challenges faced by farmers were brought to the forefront as MLAs from Mahavikas Aaghadi staged a protest on the Vidhan Sabha stairs.
Expressing dissatisfaction, the Mahavikas Aaghadi MLAs criticized the meager compensation provided to farmers, considering the magnitude of their losses. The compensation amount, in their view, falls short of addressing the severe problems faced by the farming community.
The protest extended beyond the agricultural crisis, with MLAs also highlighting concerns about the prevailing law and order situation. The opposition leaders, including Ambadas Danave, Nana Patole, and others, emphasized the need for comprehensive solutions to issues like terrorism, drug problems, and women's safety.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde addressed the farmers' predicament in the legislative assembly, announcing compensation for crop losses. However, the opposition parties argued that the announced compensation is insufficient to address the extensive damages suffered by farmers.
The protest on the Vidhan Sabha stairs included opposition leaders holding signs condemning various issues, including terrorism, drug problems, and concerns related to women's safety. The demonstration underscored the urgency of implementing more robust measures to tackle the multifaceted challenges faced by the state.
