Father Kills Son, Burns Evidence During Cremation in Wathoda Nagpur

Nagpur, India: In a shocking incident in Wathoda, a 55-year-old labourer, Pandhari Rajaram Hattimare, was arrested for killing his youngest son, Mohit Hattimare (22), following a heated argument over money for alcohol. The incident occurred around 8 PM on October 17, when Pandhari struck Mohit on the head with a stick, leading to his death. In a bid to cover up the crime, Pandhari attempted to clean the blood at their home and, along with his eldest son Tushar (24), cremated Mohit’s body, burning the blood-stained clothes, a pillow, and a bedsheet during the funeral the next day at Dighori Ghat.

The crime came to light after attendees at the funeral noticed Pandhari burning blood-stained clothes in the pyre and alerted the police. Upon receiving the tip-off, Wathoda Police immediately detained Pandhari for questioning. Initially, he claimed that Mohit had died of natural causes. However, under police interrogation, Pandhari confessed to killing his son in a fit of rage when Mohit demanded money for alcohol and began verbally abusing him.

Pandhari also admitted that Tushar had helped him clean the crime scene and dispose of evidence. Both father and son were arrested by Wathoda Police and charged with murder and destruction of evidence under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The police officer leading the investigation revealed that both Pandhari and Mohit were labourers, and the tragic incident stemmed from a domestic dispute that escalated fatally.
