Final Section of Samruddhi Mahamarg Expected to Open in September
Nagpur, India- Motorists travelling between Mumbai, Nashik, and Nagpur will soon benefit from a smoother journey, with the final 76-km stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg nearing completion. This section, which links Igatpuri in Nashik to Amane in Thane, is projected to be ready by August and could open to traffic in September.
Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) official confirmed, “Work on the 76-km stretch between Igatpuri and Thane is progressing quickly and should be completed by August. We anticipate it opening for traffic in September. However, a 2 km bridge on this stretch will take longer and is expected to be finished by November-December. This delay will not affect overall traffic flow.”
Currently, the Samruddhi Mahamarg from Nagpur to Igatpuri is operational. Motorists travelling from Mumbai to Nagpur must use the old Mumbai-Nashik Highway up to Igatpuri before joining the Samruddhi Mahamarg. The new 76-km stretch will allow them to bypass the congested Kasara Ghat and the old Mumbai-Nashik Highway, easing their journey.
Additionally, the MSRDC is widening a 23.05-km section of the old Mumbai-Nashik Highway between Thane and Vadpe, which often experiences heavy traffic, causing delays of over two hours. This work is expected to be completed by February or March next year.
