VNIT Final-Year Student Found Dead in Hostel Room
Nagpur, India- Divyanshu Gautam, a final-year Computer Science Engineering (CSE) student at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur (VNIT), was found dead in his room at the college's boys' hostel, police reported on Thursday.
According to police sources, students reported a foul odour coming from Gautam's room and noted that he had not been seen for a few days. Concerned, they informed the college administration. Staff members then forced entry by breaking the door latch and discovered Gautam lying on the floor.
Police suspect that Gautam had died by suicide a few days earlier by hanging himself. They believe that the clothes he used to hang himself tore under his weight, causing him to fall to the floor.
A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
