FIR Filed Against Sky Power Energy for Illegal Solar Meter Installations in Ajni, Nagpur
Nagpur, India: Ajni Police have filed a case against Sky Power Energy Company and its representative, Saurabh Chaudhary, for illegally installing solar meters at various residences without proper authorization from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
The case was registered after a complaint from Piyush Barahate, Assistant Engineer at MSEDCL.
The issue came to light when Atul Nandurkar, a resident of Balaji Nagar Extension, informed MSEDCL that Sky Power Energy, under the representation of Saurabh Chaudhary, had installed solar panels and meters at his home. The installation occurred in October, with the meter set up in November. Nandurkar raised concerns when he noticed Variations in his billing, as no charges were being applied to the solar meter.
Similar complaints were soon filed by other residents, including Archana Nandurkar, Narayan Vithoba Kharbade from Naik Nagar, and Babybai Binekar from Vinkar Colony, all of whom reported that they had not received any bills for their solar meters.
In response, Assistant Engineer Barahate and his team inspected the four affected properties. Upon inspection, they discovered that the original MSEDCL meters had been removed and replaced with meters from Sky Power Energy. According to Barahate, the company not only installed solar panels without the necessary permissions but also tampered with MSEDCL’s official equipment.
The police have filed a case under Section 138 of the Indian Electricity Act, which addresses illegal power-related activities. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
