Tension gripped Dhantoli as a fire erupted at Suretech Hospital on Wednesday around 10 pm, triggered by the explosion of a cable connected to an X-ray machine in the basement. The prompt response of NMC's fire brigade averted a potential disaster, as they swiftly extinguished the flames. Despite efforts to contain the smoke, it spread throughout the premises, necessitating the relocation of patients to other medical facilities.
Authorities ensured the fire remained confined to the basement, preventing further damage to the hospital. Police personnel assisted in the orderly evacuation process, while hospital staff cooperated with their counterparts from neighboring institutions to facilitate patient transfers.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the incident. Dr. Raju Deshmukh of Suretech Hospital commended the timely intervention of fire officials, emphasizing that their swift action prevented what could have been a catastrophic situation.
