The inaugural opening of the first phase of the multi-component Pardi Bridge, a unique transport model featuring multiple criss-crossing flyovers, is scheduled for Ganesh Chaturthi on September 19. Key officials, including Krishna Khopde, MLA, and representatives from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), conducted a successful trial run on the flyover.
Krishna Khopde announced that the inauguration of three phases of the Pardi Bridge would take place on Ganesh Chaturthi. This multi-layered transport system, approved by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, has received a funding allocation of Rs 648 crore. It aims to enhance the movement of heavy vehicles and includes a RoB (Railway over Bridge) on the Itwari railway line to facilitate convenient access to Bhandara Road.
Given land constraints, the Pardi Bridge underwent multiple design changes, making its execution a formidable task. Citizens experienced difficulties during the construction process, and delays in fund allocation affected the project's progress.
With the impending launch of the second phase of the Nagpur Metro, the Pardi Bridge will evolve further, with plans for a double-decker bridge that will serve as a crucial component of the city's transportation infrastructure.
