Five Booked in 17-Year-Old Girl’s Marriage Case in Nagpur

Nagpur, India: The MIDC Police have registered a case against five individuals, including a youth named Mahendra, for marrying a 17-year-old girl from Tiroda. The incident was reported by Haushilal Jaychand Patle (55), a Gram Sevak and Child Marriage Prevention Officer from Tiroda, who works with the Gondia Child Welfare Committee.
Patle received information about the illegal marriage and, after investigating, confirmed that the marriage took place on February 19. He later found that the minor girl and Mahendra were living with their relatives in the MIDC Police Station area in Nagpur.
Following Patle’s report, the police registered a case against Mahendra and four others. It has also come to light that this is Mahendra’s second marriage. The investigation is currently underway.
